Shinjuku Gyoen is a national garden” with a long and distinguished history, operated for use by the public.
In line with this purpose, the garden grants the public permission to download and use photos from its website (including those posted in the Photo Album) free of charge and without an application, provided that the user complies with the Ministry of the Environment’s rules for use of its website content (Copyright/Link | Ministry of the Environment), as well as the following conditions:

• One of the following photo credits is included: “Photo provided by the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Office” or “©Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Office.”
• The photos are fundamentally intended for use in providing information about Shinjuku Gyoen and must not be used in a way that damages the reputation of Shinjuku Gyoen. If a photo is found to have been used in a way that damages the reputation of Shinjuku Gyoen, we will request that it be removed or the content be retracted.

Please read below if you would like to borrow a higher quality image or a photo not available in the Photo Album.
Photos are only loaned in the following cases, provided that the requirements are strictly complied with:
i. The primary purpose of the content is to inform the general public about Shinjuku Gyoen, including details relating to its nature, history, facilities, and initiatives.
ii. The content is recognized as having academic, cultural, or societal significance.

Complete the application form and submit it together with a separate proposal (indicating the purpose of the publication, the publication medium, and the details about Shinjuku Gyoen to be introduced) by email to the following address.
Please note that it takes approximately five (5) days from the date of your application (excluding holidays) to receive permission to borrow the photos.
