Photography Using Professional Equipment

We have established rules on photography and filming so that visitors to Shinjuku Gyoen can enjoy their time in the garden.

Non-commercial photography (e.g., hobbyists taking photographs/videos for personal use involving no monetary interaction)

You do not need to carry out any procedures. However, during periods when an especially large number of visitors is expected, such as the cherry blossom season and Chrysanthemum Bed Exhibition period, it is prohibited to bring in tripods, board reflectors, or other professional camera equipment that may block the passage of others to take photos or videos of specific persons, etc.
Please see below for the specific dates and areas subject to restrictions.

Dates subject to restrictions Area(s) subject to restrictions
2026:

Commercial photography

Please check the “Media Coverage” section of the website for details on the requirements for commercial photography and necessary procedures.

(For example, paying a professional photographer to take personal commemorative photos or live streaming for the purpose of monetization are not permitted, as they do not comply with the requirements for commercial photography).
