Online Ministerial Meeting

3 Sep. 2020

The ministerial meeting, held online on 3 September 2020 (13:00-16:30 CEST / 7:00-10:30 EDT / 20:00-23:30 JST), galvanized international solidarity to address the COVID-19 and climate crises. The meeting was hosted and chaired by Japan’s Minister of the Environment KOIZUMI Shinjiro, and fully supported by UNFCCC Executive Secretary Patricia ESPINOSA. Close to 100 national governments were represented, with live and/or video statement participation from high-level delegates and/or information shared on the platform. In addition to national officials, non-state stakeholder representatives from civil society, business, local governments, and youth offered their views at the meeting.
