There are two national campsites in Shiretoko National Park, and you can use them as a base to enjoy nature to the fullest.
As they are located in brown bear habitat, be sure to manage your foodstuff and garbage carefully to prevent incidents.
Tent sites are located in quiet groves of trees.
From the Yuhidai Viewing Platform on the grounds, you can get a breathtaking view of the ocean illuminated by the setting sun that slowly disappears beyond the horizon. Nearby you'll find Yuhidai-no-Yu, a hot spring facility with outdoor baths, and the Shiretoko Volunteer Activity Center, with books on trees, biology, nature observation, and mountain climbing.

This campsite is in a quiet place in the middle of the forest, filled with birdsong. The facilities are simple, and all sites have their own firepits.
Kumanoyu Onsen, a free outdoor hot spring bath, and the Mt. Rausu-dake Trailhead are both nearby. The campsite is a great base for enjoying Shiretoko’s wonderful nature, including trekking out to Kumagoe-no-Taki Falls and Rausu Geyser.
