There are some creatures you can only encounter when diving.
Off the Rausu coast, the view of Rausu kombu kelp growing like a seaweed forest is breathtaking.
Drift ice forms in the sea along the Siberian coast and floats south to Shiretoko in February and March, and Shiretoko is the only place where you can experience diving among drift ice.
You may even encounter clione, also known as sea angels, during your dive. Along the peninsula’s Utoro coast, the drift ice is so tightly packed that divers need to make holes in it to enter the sea.
